Wrocław - Day 4

Up before the alarm despite a long night of drinking and dancing. Headed back over to the rynek and then from there on foot over to a row of galleries. The work was very decorative and did not interest me, so I spent the time filming the exterior and some sculptures that were nearby.

A famous building at the corner of the rynek. Gallery row, on the site of an old butchery.

Hiked over to the Arsenal Miejski, an old arsenal that now housed an archaeology museum. We were given a tour of the museum by it’s director and were turned over to another gentleman for a tour of the grounds.

Grabbed a quick bite at Wega before jumping on a streetcar out to visit an old Jewish cemetery. The docent was a very animated elderly gentleman. His talk was a strange mix of casually thrown about history of very disparate groups and times. He seemed like he would have talked forever and we had to peel ourselves away to get back for our workshop.

At the old Jewish cemetery.

I got permission to take some photographs during the workshop, so I set up the camera on a tripod and came periodically to capture some of the moments. We did a lot more vocalization work, which my feet were very grateful for. One exercise involved a pair in which one would touch an area on the other and the touched person would vocalize a sound for the area touched. We had some large group movements where we would pass an imaginary ball around the group while we were all running at random through the rehearsal space. The last piece involved the whole group in a freeform dance that culminated in Mark reciting a text at Laura while the rest of the group moved around them.

Song of the Goat workshop. More vocalization and less movement on the third day made my blistered feet happy.

We all sat down afterwards with Grzegorz and Anna and our instructors for a discussion. Grzegorz came across as pretty egotistical and he stepped on his partner Anna in the discussion.

After the discussion, we headed out to a bar downstairs from the WRO center that Joanna remembered from her college days. Anya, Marcien and Mattieu joined us for a bit. Marcien stayed later than the others and seemed like he was a regular at the bar. The three Hand2Mouth girls left Mark with us. Asia, Koby, Sheila, Laura, Mark and I stayed until quite late dancing. Sheila made friends with strange girl we all took to be Ukrainian. As the night wore on she made progressively more lewd poses for Sheila to take pictures of and tried to get Sheila to dance numerous times. Sheila kept trying to pawn her off on anyone who happened to be nearby. Grabbed cabs back to the hotel.

Sheila's unshakable shadow for the evening (The poses got progressively lewder.) Coming back to the hotel pretty trashed.
