Up at 10:00. Found a note from Michael asking for an evening meeting to discuss our collaboration. Experienced a bit of apprehension at the thought of the coming meeting of the minds. Gathered up my laundry and dropped it off on my way to the Kumquat. Chatted with Michael a bit about our situation before he headed off to work on getting the power on. My apprehension was not dissipated any by our chat.
Spent the rest of the morning trying to figure out what was going wrong with the DSL connection back home at the Canadian and editing a short video piece for Grover. Got the video finished and uploaded a little after 17:00. Had a quick bite to eat with fALk at 18:00, when he finished up his Internet activities. Hiked back to the house to be there ahead of the 19:00 meeting. Was very surprised to find the entry light blazing away and upon further inspection, a three burner propane range in the kitchen. Michael had managed to find someone at the Electric Company to pay to get the power on. He had had to buy a new meter as well. At some point in the next seven days or so, someone from the power company will be out to get the power turned on "officially."
Michael arrived home about 19:30. The meeting was incredibly civil and we were able to come to an understanding that a great deal of what had gone on in the past week was due to everyone reacting badly to the situation we were all thrown into with having to move from the house we were originally supposed to stay in. This and the fleas, Michael's daughter being difficult, his fiance freaking out as well as fALk freaking out over the amount of money he was going through and losing by not being able to do anything had created a horrible situation that just kept getting worse. I was very pleasantly surprised that everyone was able to let all of that go so we could have a civil conversation and get some progress made to mending the situation and figuring out how to move forward. Both Michael and fALk were able to air their concerns without jumping on each other and everything spiraling out of control. We were still not out of the woods yet, but we were able to find some common ground from which to push forward.
We moved Michael's things upstairs and all of the computer equipment downstairs to the area that he was going to use as a bedroom. The upstairs should be much quieter and more conducive to a good nights sleep. I headed back down to the Kumquat to see if Grover was still near his computer so I could get the revisions to the video I had cut for him underway. He wasn't around but I got involved in chats with Josh, Kristen, Jeff and Asia. Thought Grover was on just before I was shooed out of the Kumquat at closing time, but his thought bubble reply never came to anything. Headed back to the house and had a little bit of pasta that fALk and Willow had set aside. Had some lovely baklava and listened to stories of fALk's trip to Tibet. Called it a day around 01:00.
