Up at 09:00. Had bit to eat and headed down to Kumquat to get my blog entry posted and check email. Had a short visit with Eda, one of Yeşim's friends who does practical effects for commercials. Headed home after I got my online work completed. Cleaned up our office space in order to get ready for the office furniture we were to pick up in the afternoon. Watched the State of Sabotage DVD that Michael had lent me. Interesting art project. Some of the pieces on the DVD were very poorly produced which made it very painful to watch. Had a bit of a nap and waited for Michael. He arrived a bit after 15:00.
Headed out in fALk's van to go and procure some office furnishings. Michael had outfitted a couple of design offices so had a pretty good idea of where to get stuff. Had a harrowing ride up out of the back end of Ortaköy on a narrow switchback road. On one corner, we started to loose traction on the slick pavement and had to pull off to the side and take to turn from a different angle.
Finally made it over to office furniture row. There were over two dozen stores to choose from. We hiked up and down both sides and poked our heads into a number of places. Michael was looking for bare tabletops that we would put plastic crates under to create desks. Finally got a price he was willing to pay and got an order placed. We would be able to collect the tops on Friday.
fALk saw a sign advertising chairs for 45 YTL($32). We spent some time trying out a number of different models in the store before we settled on one that suited us all. Picked up three chairs and loaded them into the van. I had seen a bean bag chair in the first store we went to, but it seemed rather pricey. I found another store that had them for slightly less and decided to get one. My custom made chair would be ready the next day for 85 YTL ($60). We also picked up a sturdy metal cabinet for storing shoes in the front entry.
Got stuck in the rush hour traffic heading for the bridge to the Asian side. fALk was again concerned as the temperature gauge continued to rise as we slowly made our way back to Ortaköy. We made it without mishap and got our purchases unloaded and drug upstairs. Puttered around for a while getting everything set up.
Hiked down to the Kumquat around 19:30. Got some email correspondence taken care of. Had a quick plate of rice and beans around the corner and came back to see who was available on iChat. Had a nice long chat with Asia along with Robotkid and Duane. fALk and Willow came a bit later to get online. Around 22:00 they left and I joined Michael and a large group of Yeşim, Dario, Serkan, Ofuk, Eda and Fulya on the terrace atop the building that Kumquat is in. The night view across the bottom of Ortaköy and the Bosphorus was amazing. Not long after we arrived a huge fireworks display was launched just to the south-east. The conversation had a great many twists and turns but lingered on wagers on a proposed boxing match between Yeşim and Eda and then into Ofuk having made several business deals with Yeşim that he was never compensated for. There was another large riff on how Michael was mispronouncing everyone's name.

Michael and I headed back to the house a little after midnight. Found fALk and Willow just finishing up a dinner of curried vegetables over rice. Had a bit of the leftovers which were very delicious. Chatted for a bit before Michael and Willow sat down to have a chat. fALk and I watched most of the State of Sabotage DVD. Called it a night around 01:00.
