The Internet, only a modem away

Up at 08:00. Headed down to the Kumquat to get my video piece for Grover revised and uploaded. Grover's house lady, Roseanne had wept when she saw it and wanted to forward it to her daughter. I can't think to many other endorsements that beat that. Wandered by the laundromat to collect my clothes on the way back to the house. My little load cost 7.5 YTL ($ 5.35). Will need to figure out some other way to get my clothes clean.

Found fALk, Willow and Michael having an animated conversation in the kitchen when I returned. Michael was getting ready to leave and offered to point out where the second hand furniture places were in the neighborhood. I picked up some bread and went back up to the house. Michael had dug out his cable modem and gotten it hooked up. fALk and I fiddled with it for a bit, but could not get it working. Had a bite to eat before heading out to see what we could find in the way of used furniture. The selection was pretty dismal. fALk and Willow looked at a number of desks for one that might be suitable for her, but came away with nothing. I looked at a couple of bedside tables but didn't see anything that really struck me. Stopped by the Kumquat to see if I could find any documentation about the cable modem. There was very little available on the Internet. While we were there, Michael got a call from the cable company from which he understood someone was working on getting the Internet connection up and running.

This old TV was the most interesting thing we found on our search for second hand furniture.

Not quite sure what this store was selling, but their shelves sure looked inviting, covered in multicolored foil.

fALk, Willow and I headed back to the house for a little lunch. They went back down to the Kumquat and I worked on another project for Grover. Fiddled with the modem a bit more and gathered the PDF up for Grover and headed back to the Kumquat. Got the PDF uploaded and some other communication taken care of. Went with Fulya to have some zeytinyağli, vegetables cooked in olive oil then served chilled, for dinner at a little place around the corner. Was saddened to learn that they would be closing their doors at the end of the month. Hung out at the Kumquat until they closed at 23:00. Walked Fulya home and headed back toward the house. Had late night snack with Michael at Memet Usta. Talked for quite a while about the State of Sabotage which Michael is the Ambassador for in Turkey. Worked on the modem for an hour before calling it a night around 01:30.
