Victory Day

Up at 09:00. Puttered around the office for quite a bit working on our website and burning another DVD for Wojciech and Joanna. Headed down to the Kumquat in the late morning with Michael. Stopped by the phone shop to see why my new SIM card had not yet been activated. Turned out that a special number needed to be called. Very good to be able to communicate with everyone now. Yeşim was fresh back and looking very tanned from a trip to Bodum and Greece. Michael and Yeşim had a bit of a row over the flyer that Michael was working on for Yeşim's art fair. Michael left not long after and I stayed on for another hour or so.
Headed back up to the house to work some more on the site and start to go through all of the pictures of the Poland trip. Finally emerged again a little before 21:00. Back at the Kumquat to chat with Asia and Jeff. Got some downloads completed and talked with Vadat, one of the wait-staff. He is studying Economics at an open university and hopes to have his degree in three years. Stayed until the Kumquat closed at 23:00 and headed home to play with a new version of PHP and an image manipulation library. Got DruPal installed on my laptop. The idea of cms really intrigues me at the moment. Haven't found anything that seems quite as elegant as x-siter, just wish my German was a bit better to allow me to dig into it more. Called it a night at 01:30.

The flags we had been seeing everywhere for the last couple of days were in honor of Victory Day. Was unable to find out exactly what the victory was over, but it was honored on August 30th.
