Up at 08:00. Puttered around the house before going down to the Kumquat at 10:00. Dropped my laundry off. Found a place on the way to the Kumquat that sold Swiss army knives. Found one that I liked and picked it up. I had felt a little naked without a pocketknife on me for the last couple of months. Got set up and my email checked before Eda arrived around 10:30. Went over to Beltaş and enjoyed some tea, conversation and the view of the Bosphorus. Headed back to the house at noon.

Eda Usta (Master) with her score from Bauhaus, an armful of balsa.
Started to work on a cut down version of our Lineadecor video to put up on the web. Michael left for dda at 14:00. I had to wait for the Turk Telecom folks who were supposed to show up and get our Broadband connection up and running. Two workmen showed up at 16:45 to get everything hooked up. Had lots of fun playing charades back and forth as none of us spoke more than a few words in the others language. They eventually got everything wired up and switched on after numerous calls back to their office.

The Kablo workmen slowly getting the Broadband connection activated.
Right after the workmen left, Zeynep called inform me that the DVD we made for them was skipping. She asked if we could bring another one to the booth ASAP. I didn't think the problem was actually with the disc, but rather the player, but I didn't feel like passing the buck before I knew what exactly was going on. Burned a new disc and got on the bus to get over to where Michael was in Beyoğlu. Not long after the bus ride started, I got another call from Zeynep saying that the disc was no longer skipping and they didn't need a new one right away.
Decided to try and make it over to Taksim before 19:00 anyway, to see if I could catch Eda at her studio before she left. Got there with minutes to spare. Got a tour of the workshop for Porof Zihni Sinir, the brainchild of caricaturist Irfan Sayar. Eda was painting some arms for a Violinist Clock. She gets to use the equipment in the woodshop in exchange for helping out when they have need. She had been working on and off for a year and a half on a model of a Medieval Japanese house. She was hoping to get it all completed by the weekend, ahead of going back to work as a production artist for commercials.

The clock that Eda was painting arms for. A small corner of the Porof Zihni Sinir workshop. The Professor himself, surrounded by his inventions.

Eda with her model of the Hondō (Main Hall) from the Chōjuji Shrine.
Went over to Zencefil with Eda for a delicious dinner of lentil stuffed grape leaves. Eda had another dinner that she had to get to so we headed back to Beşiktaş. I hiked on to Ortaköy and then way up the coast to the upscale grocery store that had soymilk. Got back to the house around 22:30. Michael came in a bit later and we chatted for a bit and then I resumed work on the cut down Lineadecor movie. Finished up and crashed out at 03:00
