Awoke with a little trepidation about who I would find as the new house-guests. Was happy to find Bea and Ina, known as Trash/Treasure who would be setting up a show called Mop Art at Pi Artworks. They have been working since 1999 with dust as the primary inspiration for a series of installations and paintings.
The two ladies were in desperate need of coffee and a place to change some money. I offered to show them around the neighborhood. Got their money changed and headed down to the Kumquat. They were very happy to have a couple of double espressos and a toasted cheese sandwich in them. Yeşim arrived as they were finishing up their sandwiches. Phone calls were made to check on the whereabouts of the two large crates (130 and 70 Kg each) containing pieces for the show. It was finally worked out that the crates would be delivered the following morning between 09:00 and 10:00.

Bea and Ina with their first double espresso of the day and Yeşim in her office.
While the ladies were being toured around the gallery and terrace, it started to rain. The rain only slightly dampened their interest in walking around to see a bit of the city. I offered to walk around with them and we headed off toward Beşiktaş. Made a stop at Çirağan Sarayi to see how the other half lives.

At Çirağan Sarayi, a fancy hotel along the Bosphorus.
Wandered into Beşiktaş and found a place that served Borek, a greasy pastry with your choice of meat, cheese or spinach. We sat down and had some. The place was nice and the wait staff incredibly friendly, but the walls were painted a strange lime green that made all the patrons appear sickly.

Trash/Treasure with the proprietor of the Borek shop. Everyone looked a little sickly with the green paint.
Hiked around Beşiktaş for an hour or so before heading back to Ortaköy from the back side. The ladies were not so excited about the hill we had to climb, but enjoyed the view from the top and the views out over Ortaköy on the way down. Wandered back to the Kumquat to find Michael and İrfan chatting with Eda translating. Michael and İrfan left to work on some more paintings for dda. Eda and I went to the house and watched the DVD I made in Tanzania and some old 8mm films from her early youth. We chatted until she had to go to a dinner engagement.

Remember not to take your horse-drawn cart on the expressway.
I worked on selecting some pictures for another pitch idea for the Tourism Campaign. Michael arrived around 23:00, brining the results of his visits with İrfan. Bea and Ina arrived back at midnight. Worked for a bit more before packing in at 01:30.
