Last Day in London

Up at 08:30. Had a tepid shower and blogged until Duane and then Kristen stirred around 10:00. Got underway at 11:10. Had brunch at a cafeteria across from the Gloucester Road Underground Station. I had some pasta while Kristen and Duane had scrambled eggs.

Our first destination was Abbey Road. It was interesting to see how much graffiti Beattles fans had desecrated the place with. A great deal of it was John Lennon quotes. Hiked over to Primrose Hill for a spectacular view of the London skyline. Headed back over to the St. John's Wood station to get Kristen to the Official Abbey Road concession stand.

At Abbey Road. Surprised at how much graffiti was covering every available surface.>

Primrose Hill Park with an excellent views out over the London skyline.

Took the Tube down to Covent Gardens to take in the Transportation Museum. Was very disappointed to find it closed for renovations until 2007. Stopped at their gift shop before heading over to Neal's Yard Salad Bar. Had another delicious Brazilian inspired vegan meal. Wandered around Covent Gardens for the next couple of hours taking in a number of shops. Found an open Internet access point to get online at. Everyone checked their email. Headed over to the Apple store on Regent street they were open this time, but unfortunately for Michael, they would not have Video iPods for another week. Picked up a replacement USB flash drive. Wandered back toward Covent Gardens in search of a decent bookstore. Finally found what I was looking for after four stops.

All of our shopping completed, we began our pub crawling. Started at The Crown with a pint of Strongbow cider. Lots of loud rock on the jukebox and a predominantly older male clientele. Moved on to The Two Brewers for another cider. There a much younger mixed crowd there. Our final pub I neglected to note the name of, distracted as I was by an argument led by an inebriated patron who was being shooed away from the premises. Toasted a final cider to my London adventure with Kristen and Duane and the continued success of their time on the Emerald Isle.

Pub crawling with stops at The Crown and The Two Brewers.

Headed back down to the Abcone Hotel and managed to pass unnoticed by a new attendant who disappeared into a back room as we entered. Crashed out soon after we got back to the room around midnight.
