Revisiting Old Haunts

Up at 08:30 to get out the door to dDf at 09:30. Michael and I arrived right on time for his 10:00 appointment. Took a bit of searching to find the person he was supposed to talk to. We were chaperoned by Victor, one of the folks that Michael had known from when he worked at the office. The project under discussion was producing video for a number of parties being thrown for the launch of a new vodka. dDf was going to add Michael to the pitch and needed some samples that went along with the look for the rest of the work that they were producing.

Banners hung in anticipation of Republic Day (Coming on the 29th.) At dDf with one of the production artists and Victor.

We were on our way an hour later. Headed back to Ortaköy to get some lunch. After lunch I headed back to the house and got my Powerbook set up to capture more of the performance footage. Started to convert the QuickTime files that our student Ayşegül had given us. One of the files was particularly troublesome, repeatedly crashing QuickTime player, SnapzPro and SimpleMoviePlayerX. I ended up re-compressing it in After Effects to finally be able to turn it into an MPEG4 file to put up on our site.

As I was finishing up the conversions, Yeşim called to see if we would come to İrfan's studio to take some pictures and then on to a gallery opening. Michael and I got in a cab and crept slowly through the rush hour traffic. We got to İrfan's a little after 17:00. İrfan was touching up some of his paintings and there was quite a bit more of them to be photographed then anyone had expected. Needless to say, the gallery opening was out, as both Yeşim and İrfan had to get back to the Kumquat to teach classes ay 19:00. As it was, we got back 10 minutes late. Yeşim only had one student, so decided to join Michael and I for a bite to eat at Neşe. Yeşim ran off as soon as she was done, I followed suit.

The sheer black fabric we used to block out reflections on İrfan's work under glass became the impetus for a photo shoot within a photo shoot.

Headed back to the house to burn CDs of the photos for Yeşim to take with her to Cologne the following morning. Spent the rest of the evening going through the tutorials in the Motion book so I could be ready for the tests to be certified as a Motion trainer.
